Board-Level Project Planning Services
|
Board Development
Our Education page [click here] describes this range of simple, but important early services. CEOs want to use their directors' time and expertise as best as possible; we can
tailor a series of readings, briefings and discussions to help them focus on their high-level fiduciary responsibilities - and let the senior staff execute the decision.
Planning
The jargon of project planning is thick. We use the simple word "plan" and let the content define it. Here are common terms others use for planning the buildings needed
to fulfill one’s business plan:
- Due diligence
- Feasibility study
- Strategic facility plan
- Master plan
- Strategic master plan
While our service is described in detail on the Planning page [click here], there is a distinction between planning a
single project and a long-range plan for many facilities: the analyses are at a different level and the solution is a summary timeline of projects, though the principles and discipline are the same.
Specialized analyses
Our clients sometimes want us to provide only specific elements of a project plan:
- Location analysis
- Space use analysis
- Concept design
- Industrial and process engineering
- Financial analyses, including lease vs. own
- Development of project objectives
Project advisory
We're neither brokers nor builders. We can, however, help executive or facilities staff refine their approach to
project management. Some elements of that work can be:
- Master schedule development
- Assistance selecting architect and builder
- Design critique
- Internal and external communications
Evaluation
While this service is also described at our Evaluation and Control page [click here], we have worked with architects and builders who
would like to articulate how their own services have made a operational difference for their clients. These firms need to do more than be on
budget and on time; they want to provide better service by better understanding the clients underlying project objectives.
